About Marlie's Misfits, LLC

Marlena (a.k.a. Marlie)

Hi there, I’m Marlena (but most people know me as Marlie)

Dogs have always been my passion, and turning that passion into a career has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. After spending 10 years in the dental field helping people smile with confidence, I chose to pursue what I’d dreamed about for years—a career dedicated to helping dogs and the people who love them.

Today, I’m the owner and trainer behind Marlie’s Misfits, where my goal is simple: to help dogs become confident, well-mannered companions while creating stronger, lasting relationships between dogs and their owners.

Since beginning my journey as a professional trainer, I’ve had the opportunity to work with dogs of all breeds, ages, sizes, and personalities. From energetic puppies learning their first commands to adolescent dogs needing structure, and even dogs struggling with leash pulling, jumping, reactivity, or other behavioral challenges, I love helping each dog reach their full potential.

I believe every dog is different, which is why I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all training. Every program is tailored to the individual dog, their family, and their goals. My training focuses on clear communication, consistency, structure, and building trust—giving owners the knowledge and confidence to continue their dog’s success long after our sessions are over.

I’m committed to continuing my education and expanding my knowledge because the learning never stops. My mission is to provide effective, practical training that creates real-life results and helps owners truly enjoy life with their dogs.

Whether you’re welcoming a new puppy, working through behavioral challenges, or simply looking to build a better relationship with your dog, I’d love to help.

I look forward to meeting you and your pup!

Why Choose Marlie’s Misfits?

Training built on trust, communication, and real-life results.

At Marlie’s Misfits, I believe training should do more than teach commands—it should strengthen the relationship between you and your dog. Every dog is unique, which is why I take the time to understand your dog’s personality, your goals, and your lifestyle before creating a customized training plan.

Whether you’re raising a confident puppy, working through behavioral challenges, or simply looking for a well-mannered companion, my goal is to provide practical training that lasts beyond our sessions together. I don’t just train dogs—I teach owners how to communicate clearly and confidently so they can continue seeing success long after training ends.

When you work with me, you’re not just getting a trainer—you’re gaining someone who genuinely cares about your dog’s progress and your family’s success.

What is a Misfit?

A "misfit" typically refers to a dog that doesn't quite conform to typical expectations or societal norms for what a "good" or "ideal" dog should be like.

These dogs may have behavioral traits that are considered less desirable in conventional dog culture, such as being overly shy, anxious, hyperactive, or even misbehaving in public.

Sometimes "misfits" are described as dogs that come from difficult backgrounds, such as those who were abandoned, mistreated, or had a rough start in life. They may face challenges that other dogs don't, like fear and trust issues, but they have resilience and can thrive with the right care and training.

Overall, a "misfit" is a term that celebrates individuality and uniqueness, acknowledging that every dog, no matter their quirks, deserves love and acceptance.
